This project aims to develop a planning model for improving the spatial deployment of public EV charging infrastructure based on population distribution and forecasting, existing public charging station data, and Points of Interests (POIs) density, using a combined method of econometrics, machine learning, and spatial analytical models. The goal of this project is to formulate a development plan for establishing public EV charging station (CS) facilities in Hong Kong (HK) in the coming 5 years. Our research impact is in line with HK’s zero-carbon emission development goal by making an optimized CS infrastructure planning to improve the convenience of EV use and improve market penetration. Our project also responds closely to the Chief Executive 2022 Policy on green transportation.
